Prayer
Pray with and for us and for those on the streets, our team of volunteers and their families.

Hygiene Kits
Each week, our team passes out 100-200 hygiene kits. The focus of outreach is to build report, establish trust and relationships with our friends on the streets. This, in turn, allows us to care for their medical, behavioral and other health needs to then assist with housing and/or exit strategies. First, we have to meet tangible needs.

Each standard kit contains 9 travel-sized items: body wipes, lotion, toothpaste, toothbrush, mouthwash, deodorant, chewing gum, chap stick, and powdered hydration mix. Kits can be divided into male and female kits. We also like to add in special items when we can, such as make up, nail polish, or perfume…

Bagged Lunch
We provide meals to those we serve on streets; sometimes this is their only meal for the day. Providing meals is a major part of our street outreach and an awesome way for you to get involved! These meals are also essential when treating/managing some of the infectious diseases and wounds, as the majority of the medications we give should be taken with food. We accept donations of completed meals and would like to see meals sponsored by various organizations and people within the community. If you have any questions or would like to sponsor our outreach, please email us.

We prefer to pass out completed bagged lunches that we would share with our families, for instance, a sandwich that is meaty. There is a place for PB&J, especially with the volume in which we are distributing meals.

Join one of the Teams
We provide street medicine and outreach throughout the week. There are specific days for specific purposes. We keep our teams small, in order to better serve those on the streets without being intrusive. We typically travel with no more than five volunteers for each street run. We require a robust, time intensive orientation and a twice-a month for two-year commitment in order for our people to see the same volunteers consistently, which then results in developing deep friendships. The commitment also supports our medical insurance policies.

We provide care for all we find on the streets of Detroit. This often includes rough sleeping homeless, sex workers, prostituted, pimps, drug dealers, and gang members.

Survivor Packs

This idea was developed through several years of outreach along with inspiration from other organizations. We also received input from volunteers doing visits with those who made it off the street, or during visits with our people in prison and jail. The organizations we have modeled our kits off of include AWOL, Anchored Hope, No Boundaries International, along with others. As we have folks make the decision to exit the street, industry, or get into detox and rehab, the individual enters a program with only the clothes they are wearing.

To better support these folks, we have ‘Survivor Packs’ on hand to provide them with a new change of clothes to take into whatever program they are entering. Each ‘Survivor Pack’ is compiled into a backpack and contains brand new packages of underwear, socks, sweat pants, and shirts. T-shirts and bras are added to female bags. Each pack will all be one size, either small, medium, large, or extra large. Example: If you are packing a survivor bag for a size medium, all the contents inside the backpack will be size medium.
